International Trade and Logistics Department started its educational activities by taking 50 students in 2014-2015 academic year. The radical changes that have taken place in the technological field today and the globalization triggered by these changes have deeply affected the traditional business environment and the way of doing business. In this context, with the globalization, the geographical and economic borders between the countries have almost been lifted and the world has become a sole market. Such a development has affected the scope and quality of trade. Trade has become a business that is carried out on a global scale not the local level anymore. Global trade has brought new risks, uncertainties and sophisticated problems that companies have not faced until that date.
Moreover, the existence of a strong logistics sector, which is one of the key conditions for a healthy run of international trade, has become a critical issue for countries' economic development. The main reasons for the growing importance of logistics are its role in successful execution of international trade, as a tool that companies can use to gain competitive advantage and as an employment gate for countries with a young and high population waiting to be employed like Turkey.
The main aim of our department is to educate qualified employees who can meet the needs of specialists in international trade and logistics issues in public and private sectors, who are well versed in not only theory but also practice, and who are able to respond to the needs of our country and our region. To this end, students will be introduced to the basic knowledge and latest developments in the fields of business, economics, finance, tax, mathematics, statistics, numerical methods, law, banking, insurance and marketing, especially in international trade and logistics. Our language is Turkish and our students will be able to continue their language education during all education periods with basic foreign language and vocational foreign language courses to be given during the academic year in order to ensure that the students have a good command of at least one foreign language in which their professional relations can be maintained well.
